Product overview by Workbench Magzine

EUROSHOP, the small shop that works big by WORKBENCH Magazine.

Here is an excerpt of the review:

"Festool have taken portable power tools to a new level. They've engineered the tools with the accuracy, durability, and dust control that was previously exclusive to stationary or benchtop tools. Professional woodworkers in particular like this system because the very same tools they use in their shops can be easily transported to the jobsite. The biggest advantage of this system to the home woodworker is that you aren't forced to limit the size of your projects because tools are taking up all the space."

Drilling/screwdriving - TDK 12 cordless drill

Our TDK cordless drills received the HANDY Innovation Award in 2004.

Here is an excerpt of the review:

"In combination, the FastFix and Centrotec make the TDK the most versatile cordless drill on the market. The TDK’s compact size makes it ideal for working in tight spaces, so it’s particularly well-suited for woodworkers and cabinetmakers."

Sanding - 6" ETS 150/3 random orbit sander

Our 6" ETS 150/3 random orbit sander received the Readers' Choice and the Author's Best Overall Choice awards in Taunton's 2005 tool guide.

Here is an excerpt of the review:

"Although pricey, this tool was our favorite among all the sanders testet. With a 6-in. pad and a potent motor, it was capable of tackling rough jobs, while its light weight and superb feel made it ideal for fine finishing. Perhaps due to the central airflow hole in the pad, dust collection was outstanding with a vacuum, and slightly above average with the dust bag. All controls were easy to access during operation."

Sanding - 5" Rotex RO 125 FEQ dual-mode sander

Our new 5" Rotex RO 125 FEQ dual-mode sander was reviewed by our customer Mathew Schenker.

Here is an excerpt of his review:

"Festool has released a new sander, called the Rotex RO 125. As its name implies, the RO 125 is based on the same philosophy of the RO 150, and the two sanders have a lot in common. However, they have a very different appearance, and Festool has added some enhancements to the RO 125 which make it extremely comfortable to use, very versatile, and powerful."

Routing - OF 1400 EQ plunge router

Here is an excerpt of the review by American Router & Power Woodworking:

"The router is not only well made, but also thought-out, looking like a team who actually use tools designed it. The router is well supplemented by the guide rail system that is precise and easy to use."

Routing - OF 2000 E plunge router

Our OF 2000 E plunge router was reviewed in a Woodworker's Journal eZine.

Here is an excerpt of the review:

"This big black and green machine is more traditional looking in form, but brings with it the quality engineering that Festool is noted for. At 16.7 amps (providing 2000 W) it is truly a powerhouse. For all of that bit-twisting power it runs very quietly, using soft-start electronic feedback to maintain whatever bit speed you've set it at. (Its RPM range from 12,000 to 22,000.) Outfitted with 1/2” collet (a 1/4” is available as well) the 2000 E is everything that the U.S. market has been asking for.

Planing - HL 850 E planer

Our HL 850 E planer was reviewed by Tools of the Trade. 10 different planers were tested.

Here is an excerpt of the review:

"The other tool that I reached for was the Festool; its depth adjustment, power, precision, smoothest finishing, and feel made it the clear choice - especially as a shop tool."

Dust extraction - CT 22 E mobile dust extractor

Our CT 22 E mobile dust extractor was reviewed by BenchMark.

Here is an excerpt of the review:

"Having used a vacuum with an automatic control now I can certainly see the great appeal of this feature. The basic functionality, power, and convenience of the CT22 is top-notch. The intelligently engineered and clever integration features also adds to the appeal of the unit. However, the feature that stands head and shoulders above all this to me is the incredibly low noise output. I actually look forward to using a vacuum now, in the past I dreaded using them."

Guide system - 55" guide rail FS 1400/2

Here is an excerpt of the review within the "EUROSHOP, the small shop that works big" article by WORKBENCH Magazine:

"Guide rails come in lengths ranging from 800 mm (just under 32") to 5,000 mm (slightly more than 16 ft.). Different lengths not withstanding, the guide rails share several important features. First is a raised "rib" that engages a slot in the base of the saw to keep the saw tracking straight. A channel in the guide rail also accepts Festool's standard clamps for securing the rail to the workpiece or a cutting table. On the bottom side of the rail are two non-slip cushion strips and a splinter guard."

Organizing the workspace - Sortainer 4

Our Sortainer 4 was reviewed by WoodshopDemos.com.

Here is an excerpt of the review:

"In the months that I have been using Festool tools, my appreciation for the Systainers has increased. They are a great system in their own right. That they can be stacked and locked to each other is a real plus — I can't knock them over."

Product overview by Popular Woodworking

Total Shop in a Box by Popular Woodworking.

Here is an excerpt of the review:

"Festool sells the same kinds of portable power tools as other manufacturers - sanders, routers, circular and jigsaws and drills. The difference is in how they're designed - not as unrelated, one-purpose tools but as a system built around common accessories. The premise is simple. Why manhandle large pieces of stock when you can move the tools instead?"

Jigsaw review by Woodworker's Journal

Jigsaw review by Woodworker's Journal.

Here is an excerpt of the review:

"A certain feel goes along with quality, and this Festool saw has it in spades. ... Ergonomically superior and obviously well-engineered, these tools are at the top of the class in every way. From storage to dust extraction, they present excellence. Accurate, sturdy and sleek, the Festool is the best saw in the test."

Sanding - RS 2 E half sheet orbital sander

Our RS 2 E half sheet orbital sander was reviewed by BenchMark.

Here is an excerpt of the review:

"As I've alluded to, it's very easy to develop a preference for this sander.  The balance, control, and quality make it my first choice for sanders now.  I like the control the low speed setting provides when sanding finishes.  I like the control when sanding to an edge like a cross-grain joint or inside an assembly like a box.  I'm always impressed with the silky-smooth power it applies to its tasks."

Sanders review by Bill Esposito

Our 5" Rotex RO 125 dual-mode sander, ETS 150/5 random orbital sander, and ES 125 random orbital sander were reviewed by Bill Esposito.

Here is an excerpt of the review:

"I used each sander extensively over months and they all performed very well.  All the sanders are balanced and have stepless variable speed control."

RAS 115 review by Matthew Schenker

Here is an excerpt of the review:

"To put it concisely, the RAS 115 takes down material extremely fast. It is far more powerful than any random-orbit sander I have used, and more powerful than other sanders with a rotary mode. In power, it is like a belt sander. But it offers more visibility and control, and somewhat better dust collection, than a belt sander."

Domino Joining System

Here is an excerpt of the review by Popular Woodworking magazine:

"The Domino is a hand-held tool that cuts perfect mortises in your work. A little glue and a loose tenon (which resembles a domino) completes the joint. In my 14 years of working wood, it is the fastest, easiest and most accurate way to cut this traditional joint that I have ever used (and I’ve used them all)."

Sawing - TS 75 circular saw

Here is an excerpt of the review by The Journal of Light Construction:

"The motor has a soft start and maintains a constant speed under load. It also has a variable-speed function for cutting everything from wood and plastics to aluminum and ferrous metals. The saw cut the veneer plywood in no time flat and provided straight, splinterfree cuts on both sides of the blade."
